A small group of people who answer the phone, run the groups and keep the line open.

Coordinators

Coordinators are the people who take a request and stay with it. They pick up when someone calls, help sort out what is actually happening, explain what options exist, and make sure a person is not left alone between one step and the next. They also organise the talks and the online groups, and keep in touch with families after the first conversation.

Volunteers

Most of the work on the line is done by volunteers. Some of them have been through addiction themselves or in their own family; others are specialists who give a few hours a week. Everyone who works on the line agrees to the same rules: no promises, no pressure, no sending anyone to a specific facility, and no payment from treatment providers.

Want to volunteer?

We are always looking for people who can take a shift on the line, help with translation, moderate an online group or handle the paperwork side of a nonprofit. No prior experience in the field is required — we train.
